Theatre for Middle Schoolers

Meagan Justice
Rising 6th – Rising 8th Graders
July 21 – 25 • 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
$235

Do you like using your imagination? Do you love telling stories? Have you ever wanted to be in a play? This camp introduces middle school students to performing Shakespeare. They will play acting games, explore the foundations of acting and learn how to bring a Shakespeare play to life. Campers will read abridged versions of Shakespeare, be assigned roles and rehearse for a performance at the end of the week. We will practice public speaking skills, working with others, using our imaginations and building confidence. Over the course of this week, your child will go from reading lines on a page to performing them onstage! The Shakespeare play we will use for this camp is "A Midsummer Night’s Dream". Students do not need to have previous theatre experience or be familiar with Shakespeare to participate in this camp.

Meagan Justice is a Collegiate graduate, where Collegiate’s theatre program first sparked her love of performing. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with an Acting Concentration and currently teaches Middle School Drama in Henrico County Public Schools. She also performs with several local theatre companies, including the Henrico Theatre Company and On the Air Radio Players.
