NASA needs you!
The world is ready to see the first human walk on the surface of Mars and we need YOU to help plan it! Learn what it takes to launch humans into space and send them to another planet. What is the more fearsome obstacle: space aliens or space math? What do you pack if you're going to space? How many times will you ask, “Are we there yet?” along the way? We will discover the answers to all these questions as well as discuss what it would be like to live on Mars. We will turn drawings of our spacecraft and Mars habitat into scaled replicas. We'll talk about the types of jobs needed on the spacecraft, on Mars, and back here on Earth to support a mission like this.
Kat Melton is currently a Collegiate Upper School Physics teacher but started her career as a Mission Planner for NASA. She spent years learning the ins and outs of spaceflight supporting the International Space Station and is excited to share her passion for space with students to inspire a new generation of engineers and astronauts.
