8th Graders Show Gratitude for Local Police Officers
As an extension of Envision Richmond, the 8th Grade capstone experience which immerses the entire grade level in the local community with an intensive leadership and civic engagement curriculum, students in the "first responders" group wanted to find a way to thank some local first responders.
They chose to do two outreach projects to show their appreciation for local police officers. For the first, the students purchased gift cards for our very own Collegiate Security team. And, for the second, they hosted a Chick-fil-a luncheon to one shift of police officers at the Henrico County Public Safety building. Both were well received and much appreciated and provided a valuable opportunity for students to engage one-on-one with members of the law enforcement community.
