Collegiate 10th Grader Designs Mural

Collegiate School 10th Grade artist Diamond Lightfoot, along with classmates Grace Hugo and Anju Natarajan, created a mural to connect the Middle School and Upper School dance studios.
Diamond conceived the project to make the hallway in Seal Athletic Center more lively and colorful.

“Also, it felt really nice to do something for the School,” she said.

Diamond’s design was inspired by patterns commonly found in Zentangle art, which is normally unplanned.

“But I planned each pattern with this project,” she said. “Each pattern is in a different circle to represent how dance is endless and survives in different cultures (like how a circle is endless).”

The finished product makes a bold statement on the formerly blank wall.

“It is unbelievably amazing,” said dance teacher Stacy Dudley. “I can't stop walking out into the hallway to look at it again!”
