Collegiate Music Groups Rock the Park!
Four of Collegiate's finest music groups particpated in the Music In The Parks series on Saturday, May 8 at Busch Gardens and walked away with some serious hardware!
With one James River coach and three Collegiate mini buses, we took 82 student musicians, 6 performing arts faculty members and 15 parent chaperones. The groups competed at Bruton High School and Lafayette High School in the morning, receiving ratings and comments from two professional music adjudicators and then had the remainder of the day to enjoy the rides at the park. All participating groups gathered at 5:00 that day for an awards ceremony, where each group and their directors were recognized for their achievements.
7/8 Strings received a Superior rating, 1st place in their category and "Best Overall Middle School Orchestra"; Middle School Jazz Band received a Good rating and 1st place in their category; Select Chorus received an Excellent rating and 1st place in their category; Collegiate Chorus received an Excellent rating and 1st place in their category.
