NEXT GAME: Sunday, Nov. 4 vs. Vikings, in Seattle, 4:05pm EST

..........................................................

For the past couple of weeks, Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson has been the target of naysayers and critics who have suggested that the Seahawks turn over the starting job to Matt Flynn, their highly touted free-agent acquisition. This afternoon (October 14) at CenturyLink Field, Wilson silenced the doubters.

The 5-10, 210-pound rookie threw two touchdown passes in the final 7:31, the second a 46-yard strike to Sidney Rice 1:18 from the end to stun the visiting New England Patriots 24-23. Wilson completed 16 passes in 27 attempts for 293 yards and three scores. He did not surrender an interception.

Wilson's Last-Second Touchdown Pass Stuns Green Bay
9/24/12

In a
stunning, controversial finish, quarterback Russell Wilson connected with wide receiver Golden Tate for a 24-yard touchdown pass as time expired to give the Seattle Seahawks a 14-12 victory over the visiting Green Bay Packers in Wilson's Monday Night Football debut.

The Seahawks began their final drive at the Green Bay 46 with 46 seconds left. Wilson's desperation pass into a crowd in the end zone came on fourth and 10. The official on the spot signaled touchdown.  The replay official challenged the call, but, upon review, the touchdown was upheld although the Pack's M.D. Jennings appeared to have intercepted the pass.

In the aftermath, the play has ignited a firestorm of criticism of the replacement referees who are filling in while the NFL officials are on strike.

Wilson completed 10 of 21 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns.

9/16/12: Never Underestimate RW1
Russell Wilson '07 led the Seattle Seahawks to a 27-7 victory over the visiting Dallas Cowboys today in his regular season debut before the home crowd. The 5-11, 210-pound Wilson completed 15 of 20 passes for 151 yards and a third-period touchdown. He also rushed 4 times for 28 yards. Last week in the Seahawks' 20-16 defeat at Arizona, the former Collegiate, N.C. State, and Wisconsin star led his team on a late drive which fell short deep in the red zone. Consequently, some pundits questioned Wilson's readiness to make such a rapid transition from the Big Ten to the National Football League.
Presumably, Wilson has quieted the naysayers.
