As you may know, Middle School English teacher and varsity boys cross country coach Weldon Bradshaw is facing some health issues related to his liver. He is now at MCV undergoing tests in anticipation of a transplant in the very near future. Middle School Head Charlie Blair reports that Mr. Bradshaw "is in good spirits and eagerly awaits his return to school. We do not know when that will be, but look forward to having him back among us."
In honor of Mr. Bradshaw, a master wordsmith known for his weekly online Reflections column, his varsity boys cross country team has turned the tables, written an essay about him and posted it on the Reflections page. Their words are a moving tribute to a coach for whom coaching is a calling in life -- he has encouraged hundreds of runners over the years with his trademark cheer: "You can finish this race!" You are encouraged to read the essay and make a comment if you wish.
While he is not up for visitors right now, if you'd like to send a note, please email him at wbradshaw@collegiate-va.org.
