Anna Wilson '16 Makes National Team

Anna Wilson ’16 has been selected to compete for the United States team in the FIBA U17World Basketball Championship June 28 – July 6 in the Czech Republic.

She earned a spot on the USA team during a tryout May 22-26 in Colorado Springs, CO. The team returns to Colorado Springs June 12 for training camp.
"I'm very excited to be part of the USA U17 team," Wilson said.  "Making the team was a huge goal of mine, and when they said my name, I was overwhelmed.
"In the next couple of weeks before training camp, I will be in the gym training and working on details of my game.
"I have never played internationally, so I am also studying all of the rules of the game. Our goal is to stand on the middle podium and win gold!"
Wilson, a 5-8 guard, is a three-time All-League of Independent Schools and All-VISAA selection. This past season, she averaged 13.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.4 steals, and 4.9 assists per game.
She's the career leader in assists with 246. In her three seasons on the varsity, she also has 735 points (fifth on the all-time list) and 218 steals.
"Obviously, we're very proud of Anna," said Rives Fleming, Collegiate's varsity girls basketball coach. "We're so glad that her efforts and work have paid off.  They've made a great choice."
