Eight French students and their English teacher Matthieu Mossetig arrived in Richmond just in time for our big snowstorm last Friday and missed three days of school along with our students, but made the most of their time before starting classes on Wednesday.
The two Upper School and six Middle School students settled in with their host families during the unexpected break from school. They enjoyed relaxing and playing in the snow, playing laser tag and going to VMFA before coming to campus on Wednesday. "My host family is very nice and they have taken me to do a lot of things like ice skating and laser tag," says Foulques Latremouille, an eighth grader from St. Denis who is staying with the Calhoun family.
The students from St. Denis in Loches, France, which is located in the Loire Valley two hours outside of Paris. While here, they are attending classes and afternoon athletics with our students. "Spending a month here at Collegiate will be their first experience with total immersion in an English-speaking envirionment," says Mr. Mossetig says of his eight students.
Our guests will travel to Charlottesville to visit UVA and Monticello and another day in D.C.. When they depart Richmond on Feb. 18, nine Collegiate 8th Graders and Mesdames Maria Benson and Monica Johnston will travel to France with them for spring break at St. Denis and homestays with French host families.
We thank all of our host families, Middle School faculty and administration for their help and support.
