Beginning today, all 135 Collegiate freshmen are spending this week volunteering for 19 different agencies throughout the Richmond area. Called Community Engagement Week, the time spent assisting non-profits, schools and those who give care to adults, children and animals provides opportunities for students to learn about the importance of involvement in the community.
The week is coordinated by Upper School counselor Andrea Miller who has placed each student with one of these organizations: A Grace Place, Amelia Street School, Children's Museum of Richmond, Circle Center, Coal Pit Learning Center, Faison School for Autism, Faison School's Life Skills and Employment Program, Ginter Park Elementary School, Lakewood Manor, Holton Elementary School, Northstar Academy, Sarah Dooley Center, Southside Child Development Center, St. Andrew's School, SPCA, St. James Children's Center, Virginia Home and the YWCA Pre-School.
Photos will be posted of our students volunteering throughout the week.
