A Collegiate Student-Teacher Olympics Connection
Collegiate dance teacher Kara Priddy is in Rio, enjoying the Olympics as her brother, Reid Priddy, participates on his fourth U.S. men's national volleyball Olympics team. Just as exciting as the competition is for Reid and for Ms. Priddy, is a coincidental Collegiate student connection - with one of our 4th Graders!
Ms. Priddy shared this message and this handwritten student letter earlier this week, via email from Rio:
"At processing (for travel to the Olympics) in Dallas, where the athletes get their credentials and opening ceremony clothes, there was a program (during which) the Olympic athletes received a letter written by someone in the U.S. to encourage them. My brother opens his up and it's from a Collegiate student! It is signed 'Ava from 4th Grade,' and I had two (students named) Ava in my 4th Grade dance company last year... Out of the hundreds of athletes and hundreds of letters, he would get one from a Collegiate student!"
Bravo, Ava, and good luck to Reid as he and the U.S. men's volleyball team compete in Rio on Saturday, Monday, and possibly next week!
