Senior Boys Kick Off the Holiday with Feast of Juul
Collegiate School senior boys toasted — and roasted — their teachers last night during Feast of Juul, an annual tradition begun in 1987, to usher in the holiday season.
The evening began with seniors being served dinner by Upper School faculty members in a decorated McFall Hall. Parent volunteers transformed the space into a Nordic winter wonderland. Live music entertained the crowd before and during dinner.
After the food was consumed, seniors good-naturedly ribbed faculty members and then it was the teachers’ turn. Faculty members presented each student with a “gift” — revealing something about him that he thought the faculty didn’t know. The evening concluded with well wishes for a happy holiday season.
The seniors then changed out of their dress clothes and competed in games in the two Schoolgyms, played video games and took part in other shenanigans in the Upper School halls. At 1:45 a.m., students and their fearless faculty chaperones boarded buses for a trip to Denny's for breakfast. Then, everyone headed home to catch some much-needed sleep.
Students and faculty alike agreed that this special night and special tradition were a wonderful way to begin the holiday season.
