Celebrating Student-Athletes on their College Commitments

Collegiate School’s Director of Athletics Andrew Stanley, coaches, teammates, and families gathered in Oates Theater to celebrate four student-athletes from the Class of 2024 for their commitment to continuing their careers as NCAA athletes. Congrats, Cougars! You make us proud.

Jack Callaghan, Football, University of Richmond

“To see our kids compete — not only in their main sports, but in other ones as well — and do so in a way that is super impactful makes it so special to coach here. Jack is a great example of that kind of athlete. When your best players are the hardest workers, you have a chance to be really successful. Jack created a game plan and said, ‘I want to be the next great Collegiate quarterback.’ And if you talk about Collegiate football, there’s been a lot of great quarterbacks. He certainly deserves to be on that list. Because of his work ethic and attitude, the sky is the limit for Jack.  If he keeps working like he’s been working he can accomplish anything. I’m really proud of him.”

Xay Davis, Football, University of Virginia

“We have coached some really, really good football players here at Collegiate, and I think you’re looking at one of the best all-around football players to walk the halls at the School when you look at Xay Davis. What he does when the ball is in his hands — both offensively and defensively — is incredible. He is a leader on and off the field and in the community. He’s going to the University of Virginia and will compete wherever they need him to, and I can’t wait to watch him succeed.”

Ben Heidt, Lacrosse, Air Force Academy

“Ben is a great student and a great athlete. He’s upbeat, personable, and constantly shows that he really cares about his teammates. Throughout his time playing for Collegiate he has consistently gotten better and better and is now one of the most feared offensive threats in the state. This past year, his size, athleticism and powerful shot helped lead the team in scoring with 50 goals. I love the way he plays and works on the field, and I can’t wait to see him do that at the next level while also representing our country.”

Adam Sulanke, Lacrosse, United States Military Academy

“Adam is a no-nonsense player. He goes to work every day and really puts in a great effort. He’s always doing the right things the right ways. Last season, Adam was a leader on the defense and routinely locked down the best players in the state. I’m excited to see him elevate himself as a leader even more this year after serving as captain last year. The United States Military Academy is really lucky to be getting a player of such good character.”
