Celebrating Student-Athletes on their College Commitments
Collegiate School’s Director of Athletics Andrew Stanley, coaches, teammates and families gathered in the Craigie Board Room to celebrate five student-athletes from the Class of 2024 for their commitment to continuing their career as NCAA athletes. Congrats, Cougars! You make us proud.
LILY BERGER, BASKETBALL, SHENANDOAH UNIVERSITY
“Lily Berger has had a very significant impact on our collegiate basketball program. On the court she really has been a consummate point guard. She’s handled all the in-the-face pressure that teams use to try to wear her down — all to no avail, because she is so mentally and physically tough. She sets the tone and is a totally unselfish basketball player who cares about her teammates and puts them first. Lilly just makes the team better by just being who really is. There are some scorers at Shenandoah who are going to be very excited about having Lilly on their team next year.”

“I’ve had the privilege of watching Kyla grow in her volleyball career since Middle School, and she’s developed into the strong player we know today. If you’ve been to a volleyball game, you know there isn’t anyone in the LIS that hits the ball quite as hard as Kyla, which is phenomenal. Not only is Kyla a great athlete, she has been a great teammate. She has this quiet way of leadership. She doesn't need to be the loudest person on the court, but her presence is never unknown. We wish you the best of luck next year at Radford.”

“Jackson has demonstrated not just talent, but a deep understanding of the game. His ability to score in a multitude of ways makes him a constant threat on the field and a true lacrosse talent. Whether it’s strapping up defensively, catching and finishing in traffic, dodging from truly anywhere on the field or finding the back net with an extremely accurate shot, Jackson is always eager to learn and improve his lacrosse IQ. As Jackson prepares to take his talents to Marist we’re excited to see how his smart approach to the game continues to develop.”

“It’s been remarkable to follow Miles’s baseball journey, and we’re certainly so proud of all his accomplishments on and off the field. As a starter for three years at second base, Miles has been a great citizen of Collegiate. He is a tremendous, selfless teammate. A quiet guy by nature, he is a fierce competitor. He’s got a tireless work ethic and brings a consistent approach every day. We’re just so excited for you and to watch your journey and for you to continue to excel.”

“If you go into Coach Stanley’s office in Jacob's gym, you’ll see a photograph of the young Fitz wearing a lacrosse helmet that’s about half the size of his body, standing proudly beside his father. He’s been a member of Collegiate lacrosse practically since before he could walk. Following in the footsteps of his father at Randolph-Macon embodies his spirit as a true competitor and a dedicated teammate. He is unselfish and coachable, and we are all really excited to see what he does at the next level.”
