This week, Collegiate has hosted six students and their teacher from School 213 in St. Petersburg, Russia. They are part of an English Speaking Theater Troupe at their school, which performs dramatic works and musicals in English.
The Russian visitors arrived last Sunday (Halloween) and were met by their host families. On Monday, they attended chorus, acting and Russian literature classes and gave a presentation to the 6th Grade about St. Petersburg and Russia. They also toured Oates Theater and attended an 8th Grade activing class. Tuesday, they gave a presentation in Upper School Assembly, and on Wednesday they visited University of Richmond's theater. They have been here to exchange with our theater department and have stayed with hosts involved in Collegiate theater.
During the week, they have attended chorus, acting and Russian literature classes, given a presentation in Upper School assembly; visited University of Richmond, Maggie Walker Governor's School, Richmond Center Stage and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Today, they'll spend time in acting and Shakespeare classes, shop in Carytown and visiting Theater IV and Dogwood Dell's amphitheater. Tonight, they will attend First Fridays Art Walk downtown, and tomorrow they will depart for northern Virginia.
